adding to the conversation… if by “more effective”, you mean “faster” and “less likely to develop bad habits or patterns”, then yes. working only through written text has a greater chance of you becoming stalled on a topic when you can’t find the answer to a particular question. (note: this is true even after you’ve become experienced. the difference is that the more experienced person is going to be more likely able to know what question to ask to get the desired answer. ) the written-only ...

i remember when i was first expected to mentor someone. i remember not feeling confident that i could do it, that i didn’t have enough experience to be a good mentor and not knowing where to start. lately, i’m seeing more and more testers in the same situation. this time, i’m on the outside looking in at people i know would be excellent mentors but they don’t feel confident that they would be. how do you build confidence in your abilities? conversely, how can we help build others up to be the ...
i've been thinking of starting a group/list where the goal of the participants would be to follow a curious/troubled new arduinoer from the start to 'as long as wanted' i know it would've helped me a lot in the beginning, being able to ask questions directly [not using the p.m button, but rather some sort of chat program] and having some sort of person i could refer to hven there was problems or i had questions. how about we make a list of people that are willing to anser qestions, and help fe...

hi everyone. just saw another post today, about how does someone get the experience to become a scrum master. well instead of talking about it until the cows come home let us see if we can do something about it. my idea: we create a listing of scrum masters who are willing (and organisations of course), to take on unpaid (or paid if able!!) interns on a one month or even longer time period to see how scrum/agile works in practice and not just in theory. this would also mean that organisations would have access to possibly great talent at no cost?
